Whimsy and Wonder #10- Toy Library

When someone posted this Toy Library on the Hidden Portland for the Curious Facebook page, I just had to check it out since it's definitely a great addition to the World of Whimsy and Wonder I've been curating.

Plus, I had to include this funny decorated tree on my walk there!

Whimsy and Wonder #9- First Snow of Winter

It snowed pretty quick, accumulating fast on the ground. It snowed prettily, quickly, a cascade of flakes falling down.

The first snowfall of winter is always a moment to look forward to.

Whimsy and Wonder #8- Just Walking Around (Two)

I somehow managed to miss all my buses again. And even though I was sort of running late, I took pictures of this sidewalk chalk art on this beautiful sunny Saturday, in this year when I seek a Whimsy and Wonder, while listening to Ross Gay's The Book of Delights, and on my way to my job where I love getting to talk books with kindred spirits. I hope the promise of delights and wonder throughout the day manifests in my life- and yours!

Whimsy and Wonder #6- The Zymoglyphic Museum

I visited the Zymoglyphic Museum which I highly recommend you book an appointment to visit this delightfully quirky place by Mt. Tabor.

Whimsy and Wonder #5- Planetary Promenade

Leave it to Mike Bennett to keep adding whimsy and wonder with his art. His latest installations can be found on Mississippi Avenue and it's really out of this world!

I only found 11 of the 12 Planetary Promenade pieces and my completist self is really annoyed. I have the 8 planets, Pluto, the Sun, and the Asteroid Belt. What and where is the twelfth?

Anyway, it was a nice day for an Artist Date.

January 17th Edit: Remember how I was looking for the twelfth piece? Luckily someone shared a map since I definitely wouldn't have found it on my own. It's the Oort Cloud.

Whimsy and Wonder #4- The Morrison Street Minigallery

One of the things I want to do this year is to find as much as whimsy and wonder in the world. I had this goal in mind a few days before the new year began and then things happened. Sad things. Horrible things.

But I think it's during these difficult times that we need to be mindful that there is still good things, beautiful things, in the world. Sometimes, we just have to seek them out.

As part of this week's Artist Date- another of my goals introduced by Julia Cameron in her book The Artist's Way-, I walked to visit this mini gallery.

And, on my way to and from there, I found other Little Free Libraries and even a Wishing Tree.

And I'm grateful once again for sunshine and blue skies.
