Whimsy and Wonder #35- Bird Blind

In a previous post, I talked about Maya Lin's Confluence Project- six art landscapes along the Columbia River connecting the surrounding ecosystem with the Indigenous people who lived there.

While they're spread apart along the Columbia River and I would need someone to drive me to the most of the locations, I was able to take a bus to another one- the Bird Blind at Sandy River Delta.

Whimsy and Wonder #34- Just Walking Around (Ten)

Some Little Free Libraries I walked past today including an Alice in Wonderland inspired one adding a bit of whimsy and wonder plus one from yesterday (I do enjoy it when the Little Free Library matches the design of the house!) and a fiber library to make things.

Whimsy and Wonder #33- Just Walking Around (Nine)

Some sculptures I saw yesterday walking the Waterfront away from Portland's bridges. It was like discovering a hidden part of the city.

Whimsy and Wonder #32: Vancouver Land Bridge

I love bridges. When I had recently crossed the Interstate Bridge, I discovered there was also the Vancouver Land Bridge nearby so I had to check it out.

I was thinking it'd be like New York City's High Line but then again I didn't get to check that out when I was there- maybe next time!

A cool thing about the Vancouver Land Bridge is that it's part of Asian American architect Maya Lin's Confluence Project- six art landscapes along the Columbia River connecting the surrounding ecosystem with the Indigenous people who lived there.

Whimsy and Wonder #31: A, B, Sea

After work, I stopped by Mike Bennett's latest art project A, B, Sea!

I love that he's continuing to bring smiles and whimsy and wonder to so many people!

Whimsy and Wonder #30- Forest Park Adventures

Went to Forest Park the past two days.

There were two things I wanted to check out...

The Witch's Castle- unfortunately it's been graffitied

Barbara Walker Crossing

... but since it's easy to get lost, I ended up seeing other things as well.

First was the grounds of Pittock Mansion which always offers a stunning view of Portland

Redwood Observation Deck

Then there was the beautiful Oregon Vietnam Veteran Memorial which has a spiral walking path.
