Let's Make April Better than Before!

April is the best month of all the calendar year!

I can't help but be inspired by the people in my life- whether through their decision to be healthy, their dedication to help others, and their unfailing pursuit to go for their dreams!

I've been itching for another one of my monthly challenges. I'm excited to propel my life forward, to make it better than before!

There are a couple of things I'm looking forward to this month. The first is being able to attend the American Booksellers Association Children's Institute in Pasadena, California April 19th through the 21st for work. The second is, of course, my birthday. I love birthdays, especially my own.

I'll be sharing some of my goals for this month. If you've done New Year's Resolutions, look over them and focus on the ones you want to work on.

-Donate hair to Locks of Love.
-Donate blood.
-Write everyday.
-File taxes.

The book of the month and the inspiration for this challenge's theme is Better than Before by Gretchen Rubin. I encourage you guys to read it with me and share your thoughts.

If you're looking for something charitable to do, consider:
donating to my LGBT Book Drive or
volunteering at Friends of the Library Used Book Sale.

I hope everyone's feeling happy and motivated and willing to be better than before!

Honor the past. Live for the moment. Dream the best future possible.

2015: A Year to Fail

My One Little Word (OLW) for 2015 is FAIL.

I've only wanted to succeed- and I still do- but I can't get there when I won't allow myself to fail.

I'm too scared to not be perfect, to not know everything, to not be liked, to not be the best, to not be able to do everything, and to waste time on something that might not work that I'll avoid doing anything at all.

I've also tended to take any setbacks too personally instead of learning from them.

With my OLW, I hope to:
1. try new things even if I fail
2. be OK when I fail

New Year's is actually a great time to FAIL. There's too much pressure to start being better all at once. There's the tendency to give up after one misstep.

Usually, I'll have my resolutions all posted by now but I don't. And I'm fine with it. I've been busy with my other blog. I'll have them up by next Thursday. That allows me more time to really think about what I want- and plan accordingly.

A couple things that helped me choose my One Little Word:
1. This quote from The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho:

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”

2. This YouTube video:

What's your One Little Word? What's your thoughts on failure? What are your resolutions?
